The professional and technological Anna Rodier High school is a private government –funded high school. It is a central France , north of the Auvergne region. The head is a woman Myriam Vasseur, who is also a history and geography teacher. There are 500 pupils who attend the school, cither the professional or the technological department, together with about 50 teachers, run classes are run from the 5th year to college and the languages taught are English, Spanish and Italian.

 

Pupils also have the opportunity of practising a variety of sports through the sports club.

 

There are four different streams :

-         The social and medical stream based on care to old people as well as to babies and young children and the training for competitive exams leading to social or medical courses.

-         - Office-work/administration including computer studies, accountancy and communication with all the latest technologies (internet, visioconference…) as well as audiovisual equipment

-         - Commerce in order to acquire the various skills. The school is equipped with special classrooms for practise (shops…)

-         - Transport and logistics (road transport for goods as well as long distance coaches, rail, maritime, and airlines) in order to run logistics.

 

All these course are catered for with specialised classrooms (surgery, patient’s room, laboratory, shops…) so that students can get familiar with the specialised equipment used in the different fields. The students also go for long periods of work-practice in businesses and hospitals.

 

Voluntary work plays a major part and a lot of outsiders come to deliver lectures about their experience. The students also get involved in voluntary work.

 

After A’levels/ baccalaureat the Assistant Manager for small and medium sized firms Course trains students in office-work, accountancy and commerce. Adegie, the student’s professional club, is run as a small business and caters for local businessmen who ask for a variety of professional tasks.

 

The resources centre gives our students the opportunity to research into a lot of documents (books, CDs, films, internet…)

 

A large dining-room enables students to have lunch on the premises.

 

Administration is run by a team of about ten people whose aim is the students’ success ; they have been working in partnership with teachers for many years, aiming at highest standards.

 

Being a Catholic school, teachers cater for every single individual since they are convinced there is hope in any young person ; and this is expressed in the school logo which symbolises a road opening out to a bright professional future.
